Steel Safe: Redefining Safety in Building – (Part 1)

In today’s high demand construction environment, safety isn’t just a regulatory requirement, it’s the battleground where reputations are built and broken. With safety measures taking centre stage across Western Australia, there’s no room for shortcuts or compromises. Builders and developers are facing mounting pressure to deliver projects that comply with higher safety standards.

In this 3-parts blog post, we’ll delve into why steel is the safest choice for your next construction project. The importance of safety in steel framing, and how Centurion Framing Systems is redefining what it means to build with strength, precision, unwavering commitment to safety, and setting a new standard from the ground up.

We will cover everything from the inherent strength and resilience of our steel structures, making it the obvious choice for builders and homeowners alike, to the meticulous safety measures we have in place that make building with steel a smarter, safer option for builders, contractors and workers alike.

PART 1 – SAFETY IN STEEL FRAMING MANUFACTURING

Our bustling in house factory relies on precision and efficiency, ensuring a safe working environment for our team. The pioneering measures we have in place not only protect but also ensure a seamless workflow.

Design: A smart and savvy design, our factory layout promotes safety at its core. One standout feature is our drive-through truck loading bay. Located at one end of the factory, this design allows trucks to load and unload materials safely, away from the more heavily trafficked areas. This separation facilitates smoother operations and ensures that forklifts and other vehicles can move around safely without the risk of crossing paths with trucks.

Crane: One of the most significant safety concerns in our factory is crane operation. With multiple cranes in use, it’s imperative that all operators are not only well-trained but also adhere strictly to safety protocols. Every crane operator at Centurion Framing Systems has completed a comprehensive crane training course.

Advanced Roll forming : Our Enduro roll formers and cages are equipped with industry-leading safety features. They have interlocks that automatically halt operation if the machine is opened while in use. Additionally, each machine is equipped with emergency stops, both on the machine itself and on a remote control, providing multiple layers of safety to prevent accidents.

Flying Fox: Another innovative safety feature in our factory is the use of the Flying Fox, a system designed to carry roof trusses from one end of the factory to the other. This system enhances safety and reduces the likelihood of back injuries among our workers by minimizing the need for manual handling of the trusses.

Education: we believe that safety is a continuous learning process. Regular toolbox meetings are held to keep safety top of mind, where our team discusses potential hazards and reviews safety protocols. Additionally, we ensure that everyone watches safety videos regularly, providing refreshers on best practices and new safety measures.
By investing in advanced safety features, thoughtful factory design, and continuous education, we ensure that every member of our team can perform their job with confidence, knowing that their well-being is our top priority.

That’s just the start, stay tuned for our Part 2, where we dive into how all these meticulous safety measures come in handy on-site!
